Mexico City

This was my first layover (when you spend the night) out of the country in 2010. It is always a challenge to land in Mexico City. Since I have been there quite often it feels normal. The airport is around 7,300 foot elevation. You make a 90 degree turn at 4 miles to final because of a mountain to the South. Most of the time it is raining there and this was no exception. Light rain and clouds around 1,000 feet above the ground. We met a pilot in San Diego that told us about this restaurant near the Camino Real airport. We decided to go check it out. It is just around the corner of the Hotel. The lady named Araceli who owns/runs it is extremely nice. She caters to the crew members. We had crews from 4 different airlines in this tiny establishment. She made some interesting dishes. Her margaritas are different. She puts a spice named Tajin in the frozen drink and around the glass instead of salt. She sold me some and when I came home Mike and I made Talipia and put this spice on it. It was great. In fact today, Mike made a tenderloin roast and I put the Tajin spice on the peas. He made the cheese rolls from Brazil and it was fantastic. We watched the UK vs Vandy game. It was fun to watch but very close. UK won by two points. After the game we climbed in the hangar. Mike has put up some really fun/challenging routes. Shelly Bear our youngest kitty just loves being out there with us. She is so cute how she watches and then gets into our laps when we sit for few minutes. It has been a wonderful Saturday being home relaxing. There are so many things that I should be doing. It felt good to chill with Mike and the kitties.
