The Interview

I had an early get up in Fresno. And a nice quick trip because of tailwinds into DFW. The roads were clear and the temperature was in the 50's so everything was melting fast. One of the ladies from ISA (International Society of Women Airline Pilots) called to see if I could do some interviews before the Conference. One of the young ladies is living in Del Rio. She had plans to come to Dallas to see family and wanted to do the interview this weekend. So I had her come by my house and we actually arrived about the same time. She had her husband with her and they were about 26 years old. Mike and her husband went to the media room to talk and hang out. He ended up asking Mike lots of questions about what it was like being married to an airline pilot. Bethany and I talked for a few hours. We actually did the interview in the dining area. She is a chief flight instructor with around 800 hours. She is trying to get her multi-engine rating and needs a financial scholarship to pay for it. She and her husband met in flight school in San Diego. He is in the military and she wants to be an Airline pilot. After they left Mike and I decided that they were us about 13 years ago. They are a beautiful young couple and I really enjoyed them. It brings back memories of how difficult it was to get where we are today. Sometimes need to be reminded of the road that Mike and I traveled and how difficult it was to navigate. Sometimes I am just like the rest of the spoiled pilots who complain about work conditions and pay. But like most things in my life the Lord finds a way to put me in my place and remind me of the blessings that I have been given. After they left Mike and I went bowling. Mike is consistantly around 200 or more almost every game. He is quickly improving and loving it. We rushed home to watch the UK and Tennessee game. UK won fairly easy, but it was a good game. Clarissa was in Rupp for the actual game. We didn't see her on Television. On Sunday (Valentines Day) we went to church and then came home for a while. We decided to go bowling again. This time it was cosmic bowling (disco lights and dark). We are getting ready to cook some dinner and hang out for the rest of the night. It has been good to see Mike on this most romantic day!
