Mike

We met in Stratton 247 at Eastern Kentucky University in 1989. We were in three classes (Instrument, Air Traffic Control and Meterolgy)together. Of course we became friends since Mike doesn't know a stranger. We would split the cost since we both really loved flying and we were ambitious about finishing our ratings. When I met him he wasn't my type, or so I thought. In one conversation I remember telling him that I would never marry a guy like him. That is one of the things that taught me to never say never. We eventually decided that we were a good couple and decided to date. At some point we decided that we didn't want to live our lives without each other and we were married in 1994. Mike he was different than any of the guys I had ever known. I was too young to really understand just how wonderful his differences were. Over the years I have learned that I made a great choice in him, when I was choosing a soulmate. Now that I am older I like to thank God for allowing us to find each other. I married Mike who is a compassionate, loving, and talented individual. I started to learn about his talents when he tutored me for Math, Physics, and Calculus in College. He worked with me on my Flight Instructor rating and made sure I knew everything before going into that checkride. He helped me get through the tough training at all of the different airlines that I worked for throughout our 16 year marriage. He was instrumental on helping me finally get hired by a major airline. He spent many hours working with me on interviews. And most impressive, he gave up his career in aviation to follow me and make sure I would succeed. He is a talented computer programmer and has done that for most of our married life. He has been very successful with three different companies writing software. But there was a time that he wanted to be a airline, corporate, or military pilot for a living. He has never complained. He doesn't make me feel guilty. He is supportive of everything that I do. It is amazing to know a person like that. I know that I sometimes take him for granted because he is there everyday being that selfless person that I love. Yesterday, we were in the yard picking up some trash when our neighbor Howard came over to get Mike. He said I need you to help us get this hummingbird out of the house. He walks over briskly and I continue working in the yard since I didn't think I could help. Minutes later Mike comes with his shirt off and tells me to go get the ladder and meet him at the hummingbird feeder. I went to the hangar and brought the ladder to the feeder. Mike walked up and opened the shirt carefully. I could see this barely alive hummingbird laying in his shirt. He gently puts it upright and puts in beak into the feeder. At first the bird didn't respond and Mike was very worried. Then you could see it start to drink and it's eyes opened slowly. She started drinking faster and looking more perky. Mike was instantly thrilled and I told him I was going to get the camera. By the time I got back the little bird had flown away. He was very happy and it was an amazing experience. This is just one of many amazing things I have seen him accomplish. He is an extrodinary person. He loves the Lord. He is a very good friend to people. He loves animals and everything on this Earth. I am so Thankful that I know him. I am amazed that he chose to live his life with me.
I love Mike too Carolyn! What a great story about the bird.
