Charity tournament

This season we played a nice team from the Southlake area and one of the ladies asked me if I was interested in donating a airplane ride for the event. I told her I would donate a ride/tennis/lunch day whatever the winner would like to do. The ladies were very excited about this offer. The fact is I try to take people flying all the time. It isn't a big deal for me to get out there and fly. I love it and I am always looking to share my love of the sky with others. This time, the Safe Haven of Tarrant County get to benefit from it. It is a place where battered Women and their children can go and stay while getting established on their own. It is a sad fact that there are Women and Children that go through this. I just can't imagine how a person could ever hurt another person and especially a child. Through the years I have played a lot of tennis. But for the first time, I entered a charity tournament. My friend Becky is always up for fun stuff so I asked her to play with me in the doubles tournament. Breakfast and Lunch were donated by Central Market. There was a silent auction. And you could buy tickets for drawings from some great gift baskets. It was a fun day of tennis and socializing. My airplane ride/tennis/lunch poster was quite popular. Everyone wanted to talk to me about the airplane. Donna (who is not a tennis player)had the highest bid at that time (200.00) made sure that I knew her husband wanted that ride. Minus the tennis because he doesn't play. He works for American Airlines in some capacity and is taking flying lessons at this time. She said it would be his Father's day present. Becky and I won the Open division and were awarded a pendant with the name of the tournament and the date. She won a basket with a gift certificate for tooth whitening. It was an early start and we drove an hour plus to do this. Everyone was so nice to us. It was a blast and I will do it again next year. How much fun to play tennis and know that the money is going to a great cause. To see your friends working hard to make something great because they care about someone else. I love that this year I am trying to do things that I have never done.
