Lexington

I flew into Lexington last weekend. It happened to be My Mother's 69th birthday. We went to the pool with the girls in the afternoon. They were jumping off of the diving board without floaties and had a splash contest that was quite entertaining. Later that evening we decided to celebrate since we rarely have the chance to all be together anymore. Clarissa and I went to buy Mom a wii fit. She wanted one for Christmas because she really enjoyed playing with it when she was at my house. We bought Mom a cake and Dad a watermelon for the dessert. Dan cooked a brisket and it was yummy. We surprised Mother with a happy birthday song and cake while her and Dad were sitting on the back porch. It was a fun evening to be together. A perfect day!

Monday morning Mom, Dad and I drove to Northern Kentucky to Julia's funeral. Clarissa couldn't cancel her surgeries at the last minute and was really sad she wasn't going to be there. The funeral was a traditional open casket held in a funeral home. They were playing tapes of music that made everyone sad. It made me realize that I need to write down what I want someday. This is your last statement and I would want people to know how happy I was, and how much I loved life. And that I was truly blessed everyday to have great friends, family, home, and a relationship with God. I want people to leave happy because they know that I am in a better place. I won't be alone, but with my creator in heaven. I don't mind if they shed a tear or two. I would prefer people laughing because they remember what fun things we did together while I was alive.

Back to happier thoughts. I loved my time with the girls. They are 4 and 5 years old. Beautiful, precious young ladies. Easier to handle and not too much crying anymore. They especially love to swim and we did quite a bit of that. Clarissa and I played tennis and went out to eat together several times. We spent some time with our parents. I played tennis with Nicole, Clarissa's baby sitter. She plays for the University of Kentucky tennis team. It was a great time spent with all of them. I want to spend more time in Kentucky. I miss the bluegrass state. I miss my family too.
