16 years

It is hard to believe that it has been 5,844 days since our Wedding Day. Shortly after we were married I recieved a call that took us to San Antonio, TX. We were living in Allen, KY. Which is my hometown. Mike's boss at the time told one of his co workers that we would be back in less than 6 months. We lived in Miami, and a few years later we ended up in Fort Worth. When we were living in apartments in San Antonio we climbed, biked, or did something fun almost every weekend. After four years of flying the metroliner and enjoying our weekends. I started to interview with the major airlines in 1997. I was turned down by seven major airlines and that was a tough time in my life. Mike was very loving and supportive the whole time. I am not sure that I would have been able to pursue this career without his love and support. I was offered a job and our lives were hectic for different reasons. We moved to Miami and I learned how to survive in the dog eat dog world of airline training. Mike started working at home and needed to learn to be productive without a boss breathing down his neck. We joined an indoor climbing gym and continued to climb. We spent some time at the beach. I was flying international to South America and poor Mike was home with Sam fighting hurricanes and wishing we were living somewhere close to rocks. In 2000 we found ourselves moving to Texas again. I was going to stay on the 757 but fly domestic. We were still living in an apartment and thus we started climbing and having more fun visiting some old climbing spots that we loved. We knew we would be staying in the DFW area for a while so we started looking for a home. That journey led us to a start up air park Southwest of Fort Worth. We bought the lot. Designed the house and was in the process of building when 911 happened and changed our lives forever. We were one of the first homes built and we had a great time getting to know all of our neighbors. It was a happy time indeed.

Now 8 years later we have lost our precious Sam (cat) at the age of 22 years old. Our house is starting to show it's age. We just changed the carpet and we need to spend some time fixing things that are not working properly. Mike took a job where he had to drive 45 minutes to work and now he is back home again with more of an appreciation of his work at home life. We built a media room, hangar with a climbing wall, bought a airplane, we both have new cars. On my days off I play tennis, water ski with Howard, teach Pam to fly or go to church @ Bear Creek Community Church. We have precious little time for the carefree life that grew accustomed to when we were young.

We are still in love and have so much respect for each other. Oh, we have our disagreements and we have had some rough times in the past. Most of the time we enjoy our time bowling, climbing, flying, and playing with our three wonderful cats. This summer has been the hottest that I can remember. It has been challenging to get outside and enjoy the things we love. One thing is for sure. We love to be together. We never grow tired of each other. I love Mike and I pray we will be together for a long time. We really haven't done anything special to celebrate this year. But we have such a special relationship. Everyday feels like our anniversary. And by the way Tim, It has been almost 16 years and we still haven't moved back.
