40 years

It is hard to believe that I am 40 years old. When I was a kid I would think a 40 year old person was really old. This morning started with a little sleeping in after our fancy dinner last night at Bonnell's restaurant in Fort Worth. Mike informed me that the Church needed us to drop Easter Eggs out of our airplane for the Easter Egg hunt. So Mike, John Goble and I were in charge of the flying Eggs. Mike was on the ground and John was flying our Cessna. I had the honors of sticking my head out of the window and releasing hundreds of plastic eggs full of candy. We had planned it out so we wouldn't hurt anyone. Everyone was impressed with the many colors of eggs flying out of the airplane onto the open field next to our church. There was quite the hoard of parents and children to retrieve the eggs after we made four passes and dropped all four bags of the eggs. After we were finished I went to the church to see the results of our Easter Bunny fun. It was great. I came home and washed my car, Mike's truck and the airplane. We cleaned up the hangar and set it up for Dwight and Linda's going away bash. Mike went to get the pizza's and I greeted our people as they began to show up. We were planning on around 50 and it was more like 70 people here. It worked out because we bought 15 pizzas and people brought stuff to share. Pam, Susan, Casey and Lynette did a hilarious skit about me when I am 80 years old. Pam is such a talented individual and the perfect actress. The kids were climbing the wall, literally. We played Volleyball for over an hour. Then we ate cake and played with the Karaoke on X-box. We talked and danced, and I climbed with the Wallace boys. After everyone left Mike and I took 733DG around the patch in the dark and looked at the bright lights of the city. We even danced a little tango before shutting down the disco ball and retreating to the house. Little Jr. was quite the hit. Most everyone came in to take a gander at our new addition. It was a perfect 1st day to be 40. I have never really given much thought about my age. I love people with wrinkles and experiences to share. In fact, most of my friends are older. So of course they think I am just a baby. Lot's of them say, Oh to be 40 again. Our day will come when we are all old and to live to be an old person is a gift from God. I have been blessed with so many things that I don't even know where to start. I can't complain about anything, I am happy to have lived 40 fabulous years.

  1. Carolyn,

You are not 40 years old in the way you thought when you were a kid that people who were 40 years old were OLD. If you were, you wouldn't be dropping eggs out of planes, dancing a disco ball, or climbing the wall in your garage. You're not old, dear, you're just 40.

    :-)
