My friend Susan

Mike and I  built our home and moved into our house in 2002.  Our airpark neighborhood was a new concept that integrated where you live where you fly.  Howard and Susan were already done building their dream home with concrete walls and some very interesting construction techniques that we had never even heard about.  They had this one room that had everyone was talking about.  Susan loved Christmas and she had built a Christmas tree closet that connected to the great room.  You can actually leave the tree decorated and roll it into its spot when it was time to decorate.

She loved to be surrounded by friends and family.  Going out and sharing a meal or having everyone get together was her happy place.  She was beautiful and loved very nice clothes, jewelry and makeup.  Her bright eyes and her smile was really what made her stunningly beautiful.  In many ways Susan and I were quite different but we were really close and I think that is another attribute of hers.  She loved people.  She was interested in everyone's story.  Her two most favorite people were her sons Todd and Brian.  She would tell you about their most recent achievements with excitement.  I love how much she believed in them and loved them.

She was a real estate agent and she helped people find their dream home.  She also volunteered her time here in the Homeowners association in various ways.  She wanted to make this a wonderful place to live.  She was most definitely the one who wanted to get a group together to fly out or go out for dinner.  She had numerous parties at her own home for the entire neighborhood and her Sunday school class.

She loved her Church and her Sunday school friends.  She and Howard have been members at the United Methodist downtown Fort Worth for their entire lives.  It is a beautiful story and I love that she was committed to that group of people her entire life.  Mike and I actually knew most of their friends from parties and gatherings.  They were about 30 years older than us and that was no problem at all.  They were as much fun or even more fun than most people our age.

We have been on snow ski trips, waterskiing, and even Six Flags with them.  We have spent more holidays than you can count with them.  They are more like family than friends.  We have been through some very serious loss with them, including their oldest son Todd.  On her wall at home she has a large wall with crosses all across the wall to show who was in control. She knew that Jesus was in control.  I know that she is home with her family.  She is probably setting up a big party or I think it is possible that she may even be redecorating heaven.
