Birthdays

I woke up this morning and I am so excited to have a birthday.  It is difficult to imagine that I am getting ready to live my last year in my 40’s since I turned 49 today.  Time just moves along.  I remember when I was younger wondering what it would be like to see wrinkles on my face or Mike’s face.  Now we are there and I really don’t feel any different.  I look different and my body is definitely more damaged from all of the years of sports.  I wake up with some pain that wasn’t there before and I don’t even know how it happened. 

As I have gotten older I am definitely more grateful when I get up on my special day and see all the comments, texts and calls from friends and family.  I understand that love is more important than anything.  Without love I can’t imagine what life would be like.  And fortunately I have never had to know that feeling.  My mother dreamed of me for more than 10 years and finally got her miracle.  My Dad called today and said we are going to celebrate your birthday.  My husband has been my biggest supporter since even before our marriage in 1994.  My sister is my best friend, she is an amazing woman and I love everything about her.  She gave me two nieces that I adore more than words can say.  My friends who are such a diverse group of people are just amazing.  I wish I had more time for everybody.  But I pray for you and love each of you in different and wonderful ways.

God has truly blessed me.  I don’t know why He chose for me to have everything I have needed and more. To an outsider my career might seem to be the most interesting thing about me.  But it is honestly what I was made to do.  Flying airplanes is as natural as driving a car.  I always knew it was something I probably would do.  I love flying and I admit at times when the reality hits me that I am getting paid to fly multi million dollar airplanes with 160 people around this amazing planet, it makes me smile.  I am blessed in my career and that is something I do not take lightly.

The most important thing about me is this:   I am loved by God.  I am loved by my family.  I am loved by many people.  It has made me the woman that I am.  It also keeps me excited about the next birthday and even beyond that.  Thanks for being a part of my support group.
