Daedalian Award

A few weeks ago I was out and about when Mike called to tell me that I won a Daedalian award.  I was not even sure what he was talking about.  He said the email is from the APA (our pilot union) and they want you to go to Washington and receive an award in a few weeks.  When I arrived at home I read the email.  After some discussion we figured out what was going on.  There was a phone number so I called to find out more details.  I talked to Kate and she said congratulations on your award.  She gave me the date and I had several important things planned that weekend so I was like I am not sure I can do it.  She said this is a National award and it is a great honor so we will be buying your trip and pay for your hotel for you and your spouse.  We would really love for you to be there.  She said something funny after that.  You will probably not win another award like this.  I laughed and I said something like, I hope not. The award was based on an incident in the MD 80 in March of 2016. Attached is the explanation of the events from that day written by some people who wanted to convince the committee that we were deserving of a National Award for doing our job.  I will say that as a result of excellent training, a great Captain and many hours of flying the Super 80 it all turned out really well.  So after a very full week of nieces, awards and now off to recurrent training I am putting this out there because many of you are waiting to see the pictures from this award winning situation
