Make it count
The last two days have been possibly the most beautiful I have seen in quite some time. Fortunately, I have been home to enjoy the weather. My flowerbeds needed some attention so I have spent time working in the beds and pulling out stuff that isn't doing well. It is a good feeling to get the yard looking nice and the flower beds under control. I finally finished a flowerbed that I have been meaning to build for quite a few years. I had some inspiration to get it started this season. The last two years we have had such a drought in Texas that it has been difficult to get anything to grow. This spring we have had good rain fall so I have planted some stuff with the hopes of a better growing season.
March madness is in full swing and the Kentucky Wildcats are in the Elite Eight. This year I have been able to see most of the games. I am going to be able to watch the Baylor game on Sunday. It might be kind of scary to watch since Baylor has a really seasoned team that matches up well with our guys. UK's young men are talented and they have come a long way this season. I always want them to win. But this year I especially think they deserve it because they are such a great group of unselfish, talented players.
I pulled out my SLR camera yesterday and took some great pictures. I even put the telephoto lens on and took the camera flying in our Cessna 172. I did some air to ground shots of our house. As a side note....I was just looking out the window and noticed a road runner walking pretty slowly through our yard. Shelly Bear (cat) was sitting in the window and is fascinated by the movement of the rarely seen bird. The bird walked through Brian and Ann's (neighbors) back yard toward their hangar. I wish I had a picture of that to show you.
Last weekend was the City bowling tournament. I bowled my highest score in league or tournament which was a 237. Unfortunately, I had trouble with some of the other games. I have been enjoying my tennis more as of late since I am not playing all the time. Surprisingly, I am enjoying yoga at one of the neighborhood homes. It has been very good for me physically. I also enjoy Elyse the instructor and the ladies who go to the classes. It is helping me spend more time at home.
My heart is heavy for a family member who is sick. I am having a hard time dealing with the thought of her pain. I have spent much of my time praying and thinking of her. It puts things in the proper perspective. I wish I could be happy that I was able to bowl instead of being upset that I didn't bowl my best series. Our time is limited and it is amazing to me that we are wired to worry about what we didn't accomplish. It is very difficult for me to be proud of what I did accomplish. Yoga teaches you that there are so many things that are amazing about our bodies. We can do such amazing things when we put our mind to it. I want to be a person who enjoys life's journey. That is my prayer today.
God gives us Spring as a time of renewal and growth. He gives us the colors and warmer weather to get your senses flowing. Our time on Earth is short. Only we ourselves, can make each and every moment count.
