Reflections
For a few years now I have been trying to take a picture a day that reflects something interesting about my day. Having a cell phone with a camera in it has made it easier to keep it up. As I look back through my pictures it tells a story of the year. It only takes a second to take the picture. Much easier than writing in a journal. Although, I believe writing is better for your soul. The fact is, most people don't take the time to write down their thoughts. I know you have heard the saying. A picture is worth a thousand words. A picture can bring back memories that make you feel as though you are there. Sometimes you can even remember sensations that are happening when a picture is being taken. In 2010 I jumped off the 40 foot cliff into water in the rain forest of Puerto Rico. When I see the picture I feel the sensation of my stomach turning into knots. It brings back vivid memories of something that was both scary and fun.
As I look through my pictures of 2011. I see that I skied Breckenridge, I bowled in Fort Worth City, and the State tournament in San Antonio. I flew to Syracuse, New York with three bowling balls for the National tournament. In May, Mike joined me on a long layover in Fresno, we visited Yosemite National Park. We even threw in our climbing shoes and did some bouldering in a beautiful private area of the park. Mike and I landed on lake Benbrook in our neighbors crazy looking sea plane. Mom and I met Clarissa in Las Vegas for girls week. Both sets of parents met in Tennessee and spent a few days together. We had an awesome Halloween Party. Most surprising to me is the fact that I started getting serious about playing the guitar. I even played in front of people on several different occasions.
On top of the new and exciting stuff I have to add the activities that I normally do throughout the year. I go to work for 45 trips a year. I usually fly three day trips so that turns out to be around 130 days a year. I attend Church about 52 times a year or more. I play tennis around 50 times a year or more depending on the league schedule and my fun tennis or drills. I bowl about once a week for league or to practice. I have been doing yoga about once a week in 2011. In the evenings we like to go into the media room and enjoy some relaxation on the big screen. Rangers baseball, UK basketball, movies. This past year we watched 10 season's of Smallville in less than a year in our media room. It was quite enjoyable and an amazing accomplishment to watch over 217 episodes in less than a year. We love to climb in the hangar and fly when the weather is good. We take at least one snow ski trip a year. In the Summer I water ski with our neighbor Howard. Let's not forget I have my blog and help out with the Church's bible blog which is a weekly thing. When you add all of this up it really does seem that I am a very busy girl.
Mike sometimes tells me that I take on too much and it wears me out. After writing this down it really does start to hit home. In 2012 I already have a ski trip in Feb, Conference in March, Nationals in April, and mission trip in July planned. That is on top of most of the stuff in the paragraph above. My personality doesn't allow to me to sit still for very long. Maybe in 2012 I will take a day or two and enjoy my husband and kitties and maybe even relax. That is a picture that might shock a few people.
