Short Visit
It was a Short visit with my Sister and her girls. They don't get to come visit Texas often because of our work schedules. The girls are 6 and 5 years old. They really enjoyed the weather in Texas because it was perfect. We stopped by a pumpkin patch on our way home from the airport and bought two beautiful pumpkins. Clarissa (my sister) and I helped them carve out some very cool faces. Actually, I think us 40 year old girls enjoyed it more than the kids did. Mostly, because we wouldn't let them have the knives to play with. They did draw the faces and we cut them out. Caroline her 5 year old didn't like the messy stuff inside the pumpkin. She thought it was gross. So Lillian decided that she didn't want to get messy either. So Clarissa and I did most of the work and the girls spent most of the time chasing Hoover my orange tabby cat who really loved them. We climbed on the rock wall twice in the hangar and they loved it. We went flying and the girls went to sleep. We watched Coraline, Sky High and even the X Files episode of bad blood. The girls wanted something with Vampires. We played the Walkie Talkie game. That is made up by Aunt Carolyn. I walked around with one of the girls and she told the other what she saw and the other wrote it down on a piece of paper into the walkie talkie. Surprisingly difficult at that age to use a walkie talkie. Uncle Mike cooked a bunch of good food and we ate way too much. He even cooked the pumpkin seeds from our carved pumpkins. They loved the Halloween decorations that I had put up for them. It seems as though I had more decorations than Kate had at her house, that seemed to impress them. We went bowling and Lillian smashed her finger. But she still had fun. They took a bath in the big bathtub in our bathroom. Unfortunately, the flights weren't looking too good for Monday so I made the executive decision to send them home early even though I really didn't want them to go. Sunday morning they rode on American Eagle to Cincinnati and were home by the afternoon. It was a Short but sweet visit. I always love to have any of the Shorts (my maiden name} around for a visit.
