Birthday

It is not unusual for me to work on my birthday. I am flying today and spending the night in Mexico for my third birthday in my life. Mexico has been kind of a second home for me. I spent years flying the Metroliner (airplane) into Monterrey. I remember one year the Hotel staff had a party for me at the Hampton Inn. Since I have been on the Super 80 I have spent quite a few nights in various Mexican cities. Tonight I am in Guadalajara. It is a large city with an elevation of 5,000 feet. Because of the problems that Mexico has been having we are staying near the airport. There is nothing to do around here. Today I was invited to go with the flight attendants to a local shopping area. I decided to stay and rest since I woke up at 3:30 am and flew a Denver turn before flying South of the border. My neighbor and friend Howard Schenck was a passenger to Denver and he was able to witness my landing in 35 knot winds. He had some time and we went and had some breakfast after we landed this morning. He is in Colorado going skiing and I really wanted to join him and his son. But I have my trip to Las Vegas with my Sister and Mother this week. In two weeks I am going to Syracuse, NY for the Women's Nationals bowling tournament. A group from Cityview Lanes invited me since one of the ladies dropped out. With these two trips planned it is going to be difficult for me to get a normal schedule this month. Most people don't understand that traveling for fun makes my work trips much more difficult.

I ate lunch on the way to Guadalajara and it was some small portion of chicken. I did eat a birthday cookie that Eva the number 1 flight attendant made perfect. It was the cranberry cookies that AA puts on the flights. After arriving to the Hotel I feel asleep and have been in my room. They do have wireless internet and it works in this place. There is a Chili's right next to the Hotel but I elected to skip dinner since I slept too late. I did talk to Mike before heading down here this afternoon. He was in Church and walked outside during the service to call before I left the country. We try not to talk too much when I am here because of the expense. We really don't have anything important to say most of the time but he can call if he has something important come up.

I have watched two movies on the movie channel and they were both kind of strange. Don't know the names. One of them was scarey and I hope I can sleep after watching that.

In the morning we will have a free breakfast with some really good mexican food. So I have set my alarm for 5am and I will get down there at 6am. I am sure I will be starving by that time. It was a good birthday because I know I will have a great month because I flew this trip. I wish I was watching UK in the finals tomorrow night in Fresno. And today I would have loved to be able to attend Church. And be with Mike and kitties enjoying the day I was born.
