Ski Daze

About 12 years ago I went on my first skiing trip. It was something I had wanted to do since I was in High School. My parents made sure that we experienced so many things. But this was one thing I had to pursue on my own. Mike and I love the outdoors and when I told him that I wanted to ski he was ecstatic. We started at Keystone, Colorado because of International Society of Women Airline Pilots had a ski days. One of the girls has a home just a few miles from there and we would meet at her home for dinner at night. It became a yearly adventure. Early on, we shared condo's with young couples and went with groups. I took some lessons and skiied with accomplished ladies. I even took my Dad if Mike wasn't able to go with me and he seemed to love the skiing. About 6 years ago we started traveling with our neighbor Howard and he is an excellent skii

er. We have had large group trips and small ones too. But lately it is Mike, Howard and I and we ski almost every hour the slopes are open. We love to be out there sliding around and chasing each other until someone stops for a break.

This year, we are in Breckenridge, Colorado. We are enjoying our one bedroom condo. Howard is in the living room on the couch and we have our tiny little bedroom. I bought Mike a Hero Camera for Christmas and we are filming our adventures. We sat down and watched ourselves ski for about an hour. Today we rode the lift up to 12,800 feet which is the highest lift in North America. Riding the narrow trail down was exciting and provided an awesome new view of the world. The skiing is physical, mental and challenging. But the view up here is unexplainable. I am sure that God is proud of this creation.

We brought a DVD series called 24 to watch instead of the terrible television that the resort areas provide. We ate Chinese last night and went into a local store to look at gloves. Mike found a puzzle with one of the trail maps on it. Howard and Mike are sitting at the dining room table putting some pieces together. It doesn't take much to keep us occupied. We all are in love with the Mountains and we have to live togehter for a few days to ski together. Howard prefers groomed runs that he can cruise down. I love harder stuff that scares me and I can practice my turns. Mike, just loves to read the map and give us our options. He is our navigator on the slopes. We actually make a good team and it must work. We estimate that this is our 6th season of some kind of ski trip together. When we get home we will tell stories about the tbar, falls or video taping. But soon we will be planning our next trip up the Mountains to the most beautiful place on the earth.
