October

October might just be my favorite month. I usually have vacation because I know I will want to do something special. Mike and I love to decorate for Halloween. We usually try to have a party, but this year we were too busy to get the hangar ready for it. We did watch some scarey movies and I read the Hot Zone which is a book about the ebola virus. The Zombie was the theme of this year because we watched 28 days later and that lead to more Zombie movies. I even founda Zombie haunted house when we were in Florida. The weather has been fantastic for most of the month of October. I have been playing tennis and enjoy being outside as much as possible. This year we went to Florida and completed our sea plane rating. Dad and I stayed in Orlando two extra days so we could go to Universal Studios for Hollywood Horror Nights. They have 8 haunted houses and plenty of scarey cool stuff going on in the park all night. We went with one of my classmates at American Airlines named Vicki. She talked us into buying the fast passes and we didn't stand in line all night. It was such a fun evening and I think even my Dad enjoyed watching the scarers come after Vicki and I. Around 11:30pm we had seen everything and we headed back to her house for the night. Unfortunately, the next morning Vicki found Bandit (one of her kitties) dead in the barn and that was sad. Vicki had to commute to Miami for a trip and left around 9:30am. Her husband, Kevin made lunch for Dad and I and we went to airport. After 5 hours of trying to get on a flight. I think the agents just wanted us out of there and we finally made it home.

The Rangers were playing baseball in October and we are big fans. It kind of made the month of October more hectic because of the playoffs and then the World Series. Dad stayed a few days and cheered on the Texas Rangers while the seats opened up for his trip to Kentucky. Not many seats to anywhere and that definitely makes it hard for my parents.

I bought this very cool belly dancer/gypsy costume for Halloween. I love to dress up. My tennis friend Celia was having a party and Becky and I went alone without our men. Mike wanted to watch the Rangers that night. Unfortuntely, that turned out to be the only game the Rangers won in the World Series. The San Francisco Giants were really playing well and deserved to win.

Becky and I enjoyed meeting Celia's friends and checking out her amazing decorations. My decorations are nothing compared to hers. Maybe next year we will go together and have a really big stinking party in the hangar. On Halloween night I worked the Fall Festival at the church and that turned out to be a huge success. Over 200 people were there and I worked my tail off all night at the golf game. Mike and I had some food and enjoyed a few trick or treaters. We have been watching Dollhouse, the T.V. series this month. We did have a few people over for lasagna one Friday night. Very last minute. We are finally getting back to cooking and doing fun things together in our home with our friends again. I am on a layover in Austin, reflecting on October. I was very busy and it was a great month.
